In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dambai College of Education has received donations from the Krachi East Municipal Assembly in the bid to complement Government’s effort towards the fight against the Coronavirus as the College prepares to reopen on 22nd June, 2020 to have the final year student teachers come and write their final examinations. The items donated by the Assembly include; 500 pieces of Facemasks, 2 thermometer guns, 5 Veronica Buckets, 12 rolls of tissue, and some bottles of liquid soap.
Hon. Patrick Charty Jilimah, the Municipal Chief Executive, who presented the items underscored the need for the College to be supported with the requisite sanitary products to help fight the COVID-19 as the College welcomes the final year student teachers back to campus for effective academic work.
Mrs. Benedicta Awusi Atiku, the Principal of the College who received the items on behalf of the College Management, Staff, and Students, thanked the MCE of the Krachi East and was happy that, the items have come timely as the College prepares to welcome the final year students back to campus.
In another development, the Hon. Member of Parliament for the Krachi East Constituency, Hon. Michael Yaw Gyato also donated 3 garden seats, 1 veronica bucket, 40 bottles of hand sanitizers, 10 dustbins and 20 gas cookers to the College.
In a conversation with the Principal of the College on how prepared the College was to receive the final year students, Mrs. Atiku made it known that Management had done all that was necessary to safeguard the lives of the students and the entire College community. She said, “The College has instituted DACE Covid-19 Ambassadorial Committee consisting of a representative of each of the Academic Departments and four Student Representatives to ensure, that, all safety precautionary measures are strictly observed by all members of the College.” She added that, the Krachi East Municipal Health Directorate is assigning health personnel to do daily routine health checks on students and workers throughout the period of students’ stay on campus. According to her, the Academic Affairs Committee has put up a unique time table that features not more than 25 students at a time for revision lectures.
The Residence and Housing Committee has also arranged for social distancing in the dormitories and during dining sessions of students. The pavilion in front of the dining hall has been included in the dining space to allow the dining furniture to be spaced out, hence allowing students’ spacing out to ensure social distancing.
The Principal also used the opportunity to express her appreciation to the Government through the Ministry of Education for the tremendous support being offered to the College since her assumption of duty. She mentioned the latest donations from the Government of Ghana through Ministry of Education as follow: 1,180 face masks, 390 sanitizers, 5 veronica buckets, five bowls, five stands, 5 gallons of liquid soap, and two thermometer guns which were all to support the College in receipt of the final year students on campus in the fight against Covid-19. According to her the Institution through the Ministry of Education, had Zoomlion Ghana in a fumigation exercise across the campus.
All Level 300 students of Dambai College of Education are expected to report to campus on Monday, 22nd June, 2020 to end their academic programme hopefully by 3rd July, 2020.
