Dambai College of Education commissions New Hall and E-Library

The Governing Council and Management of Dambai College of Education, held a ceremony in grand style to commission a New Hall constructed as Dormitory Block for men and E-library on 9th March, 2021 at the College.

The ceremony that was held at the latter part of the day, was well attended by the full complement of the Governing Council, Management, Academic Board, Union Leaders (CETAG, CENTSAG, DACE Welfare), Unit Heads, the Students Representative Council (SRC) as well as scores of staff and students of the College.

The Vice Principal, Mr. Frank Awuah declaring the purpose of the ceremony indicated that the College was saddled with infrastructure deficit, the worst being accommodation. He said that called for a swift response from the College Management championed by the able Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Benedicta Awusi Atiku, in a quest to salvage the situation by taking an urgent intervention measure which resulted in putting up a long Hall to accommodate male students.

The Commissioning service was presided over by Rev. Godwin Gbadagba, the College Chaplain. In his brief sermon, he prayed for the well-being of the Governing Council, College Management, Staff and Students of the College. He singularly prayed for the life of the Principal whose hard work and vision for the College gave birth to the beautiful edifice of the College being commissioned. He prayed for the Hall to stand the test of time.

The Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Benedicta Awusi Atiku in her address, paid gratitude to the Governing Council for their able leadership under whose tutelage she worked with her committed staff in putting up the edifice. She paid glowing tribute to individuals who helped in diverse ways to ensure that her dream of putting up a hall to accommodate students came to fruition. Among these individuals include NanaKwaku Beyennor II – Chief of Dambai and Nefahene of Chonke Traditional Area, and Mr. Larry Job Mensah who willingly donated facial boards for the completion of the structure. She particularly entreated the occupants of the Hall to take good care of it so that it serves the purpose of putting it up.

On his part, the Council Chairman, Prof. Patrick K. Ofori-Danson on behalf of the Council, commended the Principal, staff, and students for their commitment and hard work in the development of the College. He went on to commission the Hall thereby paving the way for students to use it. He said he was overwhelmed by the way the Principal and her hardworking staff were able to come up with the structure to accommodate the ever-increasing student population. He advised the students to take good care of the edifice.

Dr. Cephas Kujo Edusei, the Alumni President on his part, commended the Principal and staff for the edifice, saying that the Hall was evident of the Principal’s hard work, perseverance, and love for the College. He also advised the students to study hard and take care of the Hall. He indicated that the Hall was a legacy that would never be forgotten in the history of the College.

Prof. Patrick K. Ofori-Danson, Council Chairman, on behalf of the Council, praised the Principal, staff, and students for their dedication and hard work in the advancement of the College. He then proceeded to commission the Hall, allowing students to use it. He was astounded by the Principal’s and her hardworking staff’s ability to devise a structure to fit the school’s ever-growing student population. He advised the students to take good care of the edifice.

The Alumni President, Dr. Cephas Kujo Edusei, applauded the Principal and staff for the edifice, saying it was a testament to the Principal’s hard work, perseverance, and affection for the College. He also advised the students to work hard in class and maintain the Hall. He said that the Hall was a landmark that would be remembered in the College’s history.

The College’s E-library facility was also commissioned the same day. The Principal indicated that the facility was put up to help students access learning materials in the course of their study. She entreated students to make judicious use of the facility to enhance their learning. She said it was put up to guide students to become independent learners. The Student Representative Council in a jubilant mood, expressed their gratitude to the Governing Council, the Principal and College Management for creating an enabling environment for all to learn. They promised to make good use of the facility to facilitate their studies.
